Dear Parish Families,

It is with hearts filled with sorrow that I inform you that Msgr. Thomas J. Bergin was called home to the Lord this morning at 6:30 AM. 

Msgr. Bergin touched the hearts of many families throughout the Archdiocese, most especially here on his beloved Staten Island.

A man for all seasons, he was totally immersed in the work that he did whether at St. Charles Parish, Msgr. Farrell High School, Moore Catholic High School, Cathedral High School or the Archdiocese of New York.   His life was entirely devoted to  St. Charles Parish from the beginning to the present day.   This was his home, and he was a spiritual father to all.  He followed the footsteps of Christ as a priest giving of himself in every situation. 

How blessed we were to have him among us.  His legacy lives on in the families he has touched spanning six decades of priesthood.  He will be sorely missed.  Please keep Msgr. Bergin and his family in your prayers.  May he rest in the peace of Christ, the Risen Lord.
