All are invited to visit our shrine. In this Jubilee Year, we invite you to come and make a pilgrimage to our Schoenstatt Shrine! Whether you would like to come with a group from your parish, arrange a school pilgrimage, a senior outing (ramp accessible) or simply stop by with your family or friends, the Blessed Mother is waiting for you! In addition to the three special graces (the grace of finding a home, the grace of inner transformation, and the grace of apostolic fruitfulness), which you can always receive when you visit our shrine, in this Jubilee Year, you may also receive a plenary indulgence, when the normal conditions are fulfilled: having complete detachment from sin, receiving the sacrament of Confession and Holy Communion within 20 days of your visit to the shrine, and praying for the Holy Father's intentions. Please register by calling: Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary at: 718-727-8005
St. Blaise feast day is Monday, February 3rd. We will be blessing throats at all Masses on the weekend of February 1st/2nd. Saint Blaise was the bishop of Sebastea and a doctor. The first known record of the saint's life comes from the medical writings where he is recorded as helping patients suffering from objects stuck in their throat. Many of the miraculous aspects of Saint Blaise's life are written of 400 years after his martyrdom in the "Acts of St. Blaise". Saint Blaise is believed to begin as a healer then, eventually, became a "physician of souls". He then retired to a cave, where he remained in prayer. People often turned to Saint Blaise for healing miracles
Candlemas Day is celebrated on February 2nd and marks the return of light, a symbol of protection and prosperity. This Christian festival commemorates the presentation of Jesus at the Temple of Jerusalem, referring to him as the light of the people of Israel. On this day, Christians take candles to be blessed in church. Bring your candles to Mass next weekend to be blessed!
